About me

I like cooking, wine, reading, films, France, photography, History, music and a bit of fashion. I am also interested in politics but I’ll only ever write about that when I am feeling particularly incensed about an issue.

I play the guitar a bit, not particularly well, but I like to relax with my Telecasters. I also own a mandolin, but it is a tricky beast and I have yet to get much out of it.

Musically, I like lots of things; rock and roll, blues, soul, a bit of jazz, prog, folk occasionally, show tunes sometimes and also classical music and opera.

Particular favourites include The Grateful Dead, King Crimson, Siouxsie and the Banshees. Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin, Yes, David Bowie, Van Morrison, Hendrix, Dylan, Fairport Convention (especially with Sandy Denny), John Martyn, Nick Drake, Joni Mitchell, and many many more.

I have two West Highland White Terriers who I love beyond reason. I like to think that they keep me sane.

  1. Hi Carole,
I came across your blog while searching for Pork and Spinach curry. I was so pleasantly surprised to find an image of Michael Pandya’s Complete Indian Cookbook. My copy purchased @ 1975 is somewhere in a box in the garage. I have been making this curry from memory for so long now it is delightful to see the recipe reproduced here. Another thing that gladdened my heart was seeing your reference to St Alphonso’s Pancake breakfast as I have been an avid FZ fan since the early 70’s.
Carole you are in a word a gem. Best of luck in all in life.
    regards
    Neil
